Honesty
Amount of honesty in our talks is inversely proportional to number of people we are talking to, it tends to zero in a crowd and tends to infinity when talking to yourself unless you are split personality.

Unpredictability
I think unpredictability is the norm, not a infrequent failure of human knowledge in some specific condition. People trying to predict inherently chaotic systems like share market etc should take hint from history in making. Who can have thought or predicted that great(in past) leaders like Hosni Mumbarak and Colonel Gaddafi who were ruling their country for decades will go away in days of sudden and unexpected public outbursts. Simplistic human thought says in so many decades they must have greater hold on their country, at-least I think those leader started to believe that but alas things happen without giving any thought to what humans think.
Anyway enjoy the history in making http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010-2011_Arab_world_protests
PS: Though now many analysts will jump and try to analyze how they have seen it coming or give a detail past-curve-fitting logic of how it happened.

Hmmm
People don't get happy when they get 1000 bucks by hard-work but they become excited on getting unexpected 10 bucks.

8 ways of Ultra-Effective People
You may have heard about Stephan Covey's 'The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People'
Habit 1: Be Proactive
Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind
Habit 3: Put First Things First
Habit 4: Think Win-Win
Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, then to be Understood
Habit 6: Synergize
Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw
Here is a improved version '8 ways of Ultra-Effective People'
1. Be lazy: don't try to do more than what is required, to much worry leads no where, most of the times problems will go away on their own, flow with the flow.
2. End never comes: Don;t worry about the end, think about the process , will it be worth it? Journey is important not the destination.
3. Reprioritize your priorties, what you think first may not be first, keep changing priorities and at best have none.
4. Don't think in terms of win or loss, think about optimum solutions to problems.
5. Drop the ego, you may not have to explain or understand much then.
6. Use simple words, describing things using complex words and adjectives doesn't mean you understand it.
7. Dull your edges, blunt your attack, blur your intellect, life is not a precison machinery warfare to overcome some unknown enemy.
8. Don't believe in such stupid lists.

Happy new year
Congrats on crossing an artificial boundary without effort which would have passed anyway while you were asleep, I hope next year we have some real boundaries to cross with effort and we start celebrating the real events, I wish new year brings so much joy and peace each day that celebrating a change in number will feel so immaterial that we will celebrate anyway!
